Changeable

Changeable presents a lively encounter between sky and ground. The top band of the composition carries warm orange and red tones, worked into rough, sweeping marks that suggest a sunset stretching across the horizon. Darker, ribbon-like bands sit beneath the sky like distant hills, grounding the piece while still keeping things loose and suggestive.

The lower two-thirds of the work explode with layered greens. Broad palette-knife strokes, subtle scraping, and translucent washes overlap to form a textured field that reads as grass, vegetation, or simply movement — you choose. Small accents of brighter colour peek through the layers, offering moments of surprise and balance against the darker midsection.

The piece was built through a process of layering and reworking: adding, scraping back, and adding again. That gives the surface a lived-in, tactile quality that invites closer inspection. The feel is intentionally unpolished, playful, and energetic—more conversation starter than quiet study.
