Dee Hogg is an artist with a wonderfully unruly creative path. An art school dropout who later graduated in Interior Design from London Guildhall University, she has spent much of her life noticing how spaces, surfaces, and atmosphere shape the way we feel. That sensibility runs through her work, which is layered, expressive, and full of energy.
Her paintings are built rather than simply painted. Working primarily in acrylic, Dee uses palette knives, gestural brushwork, sgraffito, and impasto techniques to create surfaces with real physical presence — work that changes as light moves across it, and rewards a closer look. The process is intuitive and often unpredictable: layers are added, scraped back, and reworked until the painting finds its own logic. The result is abstract work that feels both considered and alive.
Dee's subjects are drawn from the world around her — urban landscapes, nature, movement, atmosphere — but she's never interested in the literal. Her paintings capture a feeling, a tension, or a moment of energy rather than a fixed scene. She wants the viewer to bring their own story.
Exhibitions
For the whole of August 2026 Dee is exhibiting multiple works at the Nicoleta Gallery in Berlin, and the Casa Del Arte in Palma, Majorca.
In July 2026, three of Dee's works — Sun Thorns, Pulse, and Salt & Spark — are on show at Galerie Chien d'Or, Quebec, Canada.
In March 2026, three works — Cab Home, Eclipsed Currents, and The Ark — were selected for exhibition at EXPO STRASBOURG 2026, Strasbourg, France, via Artboxy.
Alongside her art practice, Dee is a grandmother of five, a passionate traveller, an enthusiastic cook, an avid gardener, and a devoted cat lover. She has a particular fondness for Croatia, counts Valencia as her favourite city, and still remembers one especially memorable New Year's Eve spent on a party boat in Sydney Harbour. Known for her dry humour and occasional well-aimed sarcasm, Dee brings wit as well as warmth to everything she does.
