Where its companion piece burns with heat and rust, this work settles into cooler registers: layered pigments pool and spread across the surface in shifting washes of colour, their edges blurred as if seen through heat haze or the shimmer of water just below the surface. There is a meditative quality here — the feeling of time slowing, of staying just a little longer than you planned.
