Fragmented Pulse
Fragmented Pulse is a lively, tactile painting that uses layered acrylic and palette-knife impasto to build a landscape of colour and motion. Bright ochres and ember-like oranges slice through rich greens and jewel blues, while darker passages of near-black introduce depth and mystery. Sgraffito, gestural strokes, and translucent overlays create a sense of continuous movement — as if a forest at night is breathing and bending in wind and light.
The piece began as an experiment in contrast and rhythm: alternating dense colour masses with thin, dragged washes to let underlying layers peek through. Those choices created the “fragmented” feeling — pockets of clarity set against blurred, shifting shapes. The result is a painting that invites viewers to find their own forms and stories, whether that’s a row of trees, a group of dancers, or simply a mood of electric calm.
